Dear University Students and other Village Peoples,

It is with great pride and duty that I welcome you to this inaugural edition of the Punch & Judy physical. It has been an honor to have made it this far, and we thank you all for the support we have been shown this past semester.

For those who do not yet know us: We, the Punch & Judy, are NYU’s newest humor magazine. We bring you this edition, the April 2026, after a grueling month of work. Every single part of this edition was developed, drawn, written, designed, and printed entirely within the month of April. We do this in the hopes that our humor stays fresh and relevant, an issue so many printed publications face.

But we have big plans for the future, and our first goal is to halve that amount of time. You may have noticed that this is the April Evening edition, and that we published no edition for April Morning. The hope is, with enough of you fine folk joining our recruitment pool for next semester, we can publish at least twice per month: One Morning Edition, and one Evening Edition. This would make us the most frequently published college humor magazine on Earth.

So when you finish this edition, we ask that you please do not dispose of it. If you enjoy it, then share it with your friends, roommates, and lovers. If you hate it, then share it with your enemies, roommates, and ex-lovers. And when you are all finally finished with it, leave it in a lounge or bathroom so that some other stranger may experience it.

And if you really love it, come join us.

Our mission is simple: One day, in a hundred and fifty years, some high-school sophomore will see one of our cartoons below a DBQ. And when asked what it says about our era... they actually have a cohesive answer.

Sincerely,

Zachary H. Arnold

Editor-in-Chief
